The Temptation of the Sun

by Patricia on

Being a Wisconsin resident means that we have approximately 1/3 of our days each year when we have full sunshine. Today is one of them. I am so tempted to be outside, playing with the dogs, instead of working in my office. I’ve made a promise to myself each year for several years now that I WILL ENJOY THE SUNSHINE. That means dining at outdoor eateries, working on my laptop at the picnic table in the backyard, and any other outdoor option I can think of to make sure that when fall arrives, I don’t realize that I missed the summer sun.

If I find myself feeling just a little guilty while being in the sun, I remind myself that de-stress opportunities are an important part of managing one’s emotions and relaxing in the sun is one way to build or replenish our emotional reserves.

What commitment will you make to yourself about enjoying the summer sun this year? How will you find ways to be in the sun and get the work done too? Please share your creative ideas on how that might happen and perhaps it will inspire one more person to take action and surrender to the temptation of the sun!

I almost forgot to tell you – my action is to sit on the deck with the cats and eat my lunch, as soon as I hit publish on this post. Then get my laptop and work outside for a while, soaking in some vitamin D. And spend sometime just sitting, perhaps petting a cat if she’s willing, and being grateful for life itself!
